Thailand on high alert over mysterious disease in Cambodia

SA KAEO, THAILAND, July 9 (TNA) - Thailand has been on high alert over a mysterious disease which has reportedly made 62 Cambodian children become ill and killed 60 of them, considered 100 per cent. People living along the common border, including those in Thailand's eastern Sa Kaeo and Cambodia's Poipet provinces have been particularly concerned over the mysterious disease; while Sa Kaeo Governor Sanit Naksuksri has ordered relevant authorities to urgently block the disease from spreading into any Thai area. Sa Kaeo authorities are also verifying the mysterious disease, said to cause symptoms like those of influenza and hemorrhagic fever, following reports that some 60 Cambodian children, aged under ten, who were infected with the mysteriously-fatal disease, have already died. Sa Kaeo Governor Sanit Naksuksri insisted that his border province has closely kept monitoring updates of the mysterious disease in southern Cambodia, noting, however, that the disease has not reached the Cambodian border Banteay Meanchey and Battambang Provinces across Sa Kaeo, and that he has instructed border officials to take precautions and watch out for visitors with the symptoms or other signs of the deadly disease. The Sa Kaeo governor revealed that he has also ordered the management of all schools located near the border to look for ill students, with those spotted with such the illnesses to be immediately sent to nearest hospitals.
