Japan offers over 3.5 billion baht in grant to Thailand
BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - Japan on Thursday offered more than 3.5 billion baht in grant to the Thai government which will be spent on boosting the latter in water management and anti-flood programmes, especially around industrial estates which were ravaged by massive flood in late 2011.
Three agreements involving grant worth a total of 3.532 billion baht were signed by Piroon Laismit, director-general of Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency, and Japanese ambassador to Thailand Seiji Kojima.
The money will be spent more lifting low lying parts of the outer ring road which links between Bangkok and Ayutthaya province, construct two sluice gates at Pasak River on the eastern part of Ayutthaya, and on buying imported machinery necessary for repairing property damaged from the late last year’s year.
Industrial estates in Ayutthaya which housed many Japanese plants were severely inundated in late 2011. (TNA)
