Qatar Calls for Syria Opposition to Unite
Cairo, July 02 (QNA) - The State of Qatar on Monday called for the Syrian opposition to unite, reaffirming keenness to fully support any means aimed at ending Syria's painful ordeal .
Addressing the conference of Syrian opposition, which kicked off here today under the auspices of the Arab League, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohammad al Attiyah said the State of Qatar has been closely working since the start of the popular uprising with all Syrian factions and regional and international actors within the Arab League and the United Nations in order to spare further bloodshed of the Syrian people, and preserve its security and stability.
All Qatar's diplomatic initiatives stem from its keenness to protect the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic from the specter of civil war, he said expressing Qatar's " full support without reservation" for early end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
The Syrian opposition is tasked with assuming responsibility to support the Syrian people in achieving their aspirations for security, stability and prosperity despite the current difficulties, challenges and limited means requiring exceptional efforts to achieve the desired goal of regime change, Dr. al Attiyah explained.
In this context, Dr. al Attiyah said that he has held a number of meetings with the whole spectrum of the Syrian opposition, urging the opposition to unify its visions and define a common approach for the future of Syria.
He called upon all Syrian oppositions factions to develop a road map identifying the objectives of the next phase based on the resolutions adopted by the Arab League and the United Nations.
Concluding, HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs urged the international community to step up pressure on the Syrian regime to ensure the implementation of the conference outcomes and comply with the legitimate aspirations of Syrian people. (QNA)
