Official Baku takes all steps to clarify fate of Azerbaijani poets arrested in Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku, July 2 /Trend M.Aliyev/ The Azerbaijani authorities have taken all steps that international law allows, with regard to the clarification of the fate of Azerbaijani poets, who were arrested in Iran, head of the department of social and political issues of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov told reporters on Monday. Hasanov noted that negotiations with the Iranian government are held and the relevant structures are studying the reasons for arrest and the Iranian government views on the future of Azerbaijani poets. "We are taking all possible steps with regard to clarifying the reasons for the detention of these people in Iran, and their subsequent fate and activity," Hasanov said. Two Azerbaijani citizens, Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizade, are missing in Iran since May 2. Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry earlier sent five notes to Iran's Foreign Ministry demanding clarification of the situation with the missing fellow citizens. Last week, Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the arrest of two Azerbaijani citizens. According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry's response to Azerbaijan's note, two Azerbaijani citizens are accused of attempting to commit a crime. Do you have any feedback?
