Sultan of Brunei has audience with Thai King, confers with PM

BANGKOK, July 1 (TNA) - Brunei Darussalam’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah has had an audience with His Majesty the King of Thailand and held bilateral talks with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. The Sultan had the audience with His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall in the Grand Palace on Saturday evening. The Bruneian monarch, who is on a four-day official visit to Thailand, starting June 29, later met Miss Yingluck at Government House to discuss Brunei-Thailand relations, especially on agriculture, education and Halal food. The two countries, members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), have established diplomatic relations since 1984. Since then, the two nations have enjoyed close cooperation with exchange of visits by military top brass on regular basis. After the talks ended, Miss Yingluck, who paid an official visit to Brunei last September, hosted a dinner party in honour of His Majesty the Sultan at the Outer Santi Maitri Building, Government House.
