Thailand destroys Bt6bn narcotics

BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over Thailand's 41st incineration of narcotics, worth 6.9 billion baht, in the country's central Ayutthaya Province on Friday afternoon. The event took place at the Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate, during which Yingluck insisted that narcotics have seriously harmed the Thai society, urging concerned parties to, therefore, join forces on narcotic prevention and suppression. Twelve kinds of narcotics seized from 1,033 cases, weighing over four tons, were incinerated on the occasion, including the biggest lot of 21 million methamphetamine pills. The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under the Ministry of Public Health, still keeps over 24 tons of narcotics worth 72 billion baht pending their legal cases and approval for disposal.
