RI-CHINA CORRUPTION ERADICATION COOPERATION A MUST : MINISTER

Beijing, Oct 15 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and China need to cooperate in corruption eradication because the two countries have the same determination to create a clean government, Indonesian Administrative Reform Minister Taufik Effendi said here on Wednesday.

"It is a must for the two countries to step up corruption eradication cooperation in their efforts to create a clean government and to support other sectors," Effendi said at the end of a three-day working visit in Beijing, China.

Before coming to Beijing, the minister and his entourage consisting of several Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officials, had also visited South Korea.

Effendi said corruption eradication cooperation between the two countries was in the framework of preparations for cooperation in other fields, including in the economic sector.

He said a good bureaucracy would be able to create a clean government and therefore various forms of cooperation between the two countries were expected to run well in the future.

He said Indonesia-China bilateral relations in various fields would develop very fast in the future and therefore creating clean governments was a must.

"If a clean government has been created, it will improve cooperation in other sectors such as economy and investment," Effendi said.

He said in his meeting with a Chinese minister, Ma Wen, it was agreed that preventing corruption was much better than taking stern action against corrupter.
