UAE PRESIDENT WISHES TO VISIT INDONESIA
Jakarta, Oct. 15 (ANTARA) - President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his wish to visit Indonesia when he received a credential letter of Indonesian Ambassador to UAE Wahid Supriyadi recently.
Ambassador Supriyadi on the occasion conveyed President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's regards and hoped that during his posting in the UAE he could strengthen the two countries' bilateral ties, according to a press statement of the Indonesian foreign ministry here on Tuesday.
Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates have established sound relations. Both states' bilateral trade value currently reaches US$1.5 billion.
President Yudhoyono twice visited the UAE which showed the importance of the Middle East country for Indonesia, the statement said.
Finance Ministers of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) held a meeting and a roadshow for Gulf investors, in Dubai, on October 8, 2008.
Indonesia and other ASEAN member countries wanted to intensify economic, trade and investment cooperation with Middle East nations particularly with the UAE.
The theme of the Dubai roadshow organized by the Indonesian finance ministry and Barclays Capital was "Dynamic ASEAN: Dependable Partners for Sustaining Growth".
