Blasts at decommissioned explosives depot in Thai East

CHANTABURI, THAILAND, June 27 (TNA) - Bomb experts have attributed a series of blasts at a depot of decommissioned explosives in Thailand's eastern Chantaburi late last night to heat and humidity. The bomb experts initially assumed that the old explosives with poor conditions might rub against one another and exploded, or heat and humidity caused some kinds of explosives to blast at the depot. The deafening explosions at the depot, where explosives collected from border and other areas were kept pending disposal, preceded fires and a series of subsequent blasts which lasted about an hour. The depot and its vicinity in a 200-meter radius have been sealed off under the 11th Border Patrol Police Command at the Chao Phraya Bodindecha Camp in Chantaburi's Makham district after the explosions. Many explosives remain at the depot, including ammunitions of M79 grenade launchers, hand grenades, and rocket-propelled grenades, pending their disposal by experts. (TNA)
