Doha, June 26 (QNA) - The Ministry of Interior's Police Training Institute (PTI) on Tuesday organized a lecture on human rights given before 17 associates of the thirty-first session of the leaders of the senior officers of a number of departments in the ministry. The lecture was given by MOI's Human Rights Department Director Col. Abdullah Saqr Al Mohannadi, during which he explained several aspects about human rights and the UN's international conventions in this regard. He also discussed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a basic right for everyone, pointing to the legal frameworks that govern the Universal Declaration. Al Mohannadi said that Qatar's National Human Rights Committee (QNCHR) was founded in 2002, and has since received A rating, which proves the committee's merit and outstanding performance. Keen on having first-hand communication with people, HE Minister of Interior ordered the foundation of a human rights committee within the ministry, functioning according to a clear three-year strategy. Al Mohannadi also noted the department's effort to spread awareness of human rights among MOI's personnel. The lecture is one many given during the session, which takes place between June 10 - July 5, jointly with International College Britain (ICB). (QNA)
