Thai South still affected by Sumatra haze

THAILAND, June 23 (TNA) - Haze from wildfires on the Sumatra Island in neighbouring Indonesia have still affected Thailand's southern region, as Trang Province was blanketed by the seasonal haze Saturday, prompting local trawlers to proceed with caution. Kantang district is among areas in Trang hardest hit by the haze from Indonesia’s Sumatra Island over the past few weeks. Meanwhile, officials of Thailand's Marine Office Region 5 carried out a marine patrol along the Trang River to survey the haze situation. The office's Chief Suthee Suksong said that his officials would keep on the patrol regularly and would issue warnings for local trawlers for the sake of their safety in case that the haze situation worsened.
