Doha Centre for Media Freedom Highlights Media Standards
Doha, June 21 (QNA) - The Doha Centre for Media Freedom (DCMF) concluded Thursday a three-day training session on international standards for media quality with the participation of journalists from a number of Qatar's media outlets.
The session, conducted by Egyptian writer and media expert Yasser Abdelaziz at the Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel in Doha, discussed the reasons behind the renewed global interest in media standards and the importance of evaluating journalistic production in accordance with them. It also addressed examples of reporters' major media mistakes in local and international institutions.
DCMF Director Jan Keulen chaired the opening assembly. In his speech on the occasion, Kuelen praised the session's successful results and thanked the journalists and lecturer, expressing hopes that the session contributes to advancing the media skillset as well as reiterating the DCMF s full support for Qatari media.
From his part, DCMF Senior Training Coordinator Omar Makhfi asserted the session's goals came within the context of the Centre's efforts to advance local media, adding an encouragement note for participants to communicate with the Centre and engage in its future sessions.
The session lecturer praised the trainees' active responsiveness. "The media enable people to access information and help countries develop. Journalists must deliver complete, balanced and impartial information to their readers, listeners and viewers'', he said. (QNA)
