Doha to Host the 7th IPTC on January 2014

Doha, June 19 (QNA) - Doha hosts the 7th International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) on January 20-22, 2014. The three-day event is co-organized by Qatar Petroleum (QP) and ExxonMobil. IPTC aims to help in the advancement of knowledge related to the exploration, development, production, transportation and processing of oil and natural gas, according to a joint press statement issued by QP and Exxon Mobil. The Technical Program Committee kicked off preparations for the conference by holding a meeting on June 13-14 in Doha. co-chaired by QP Gas Development Manager, Mr. Khalid Mohammed Al Hitmi and ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. President and General Manager, Mr. Bart Cahir. The Technical Program Committee comprised of 112 members from 89 companies and 49 countries discussed expectations, assigned responsibilities and agreed on technical topics. The program is expected to consist of 60-70 technical sessions, four panel sessions and additional technical workshops and training courses dedicated for engineers, geoscientists and researchers to focus on new technology, industry collaboration and integrated topics. Mr. Khalid Mohammed Al Hitmi underlined the strong position of the State of Qatar as one of the world's leading energy-providing nations, noting that one of the aims in co-hosting IPTC is to highlight Qatar's advances in technology as these can increase efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, improve safety and enable access to new sources of energy supply. For his part, Mr. Cahir explained how it is important to ensure that technological advances find ways to develop new energy resources in a safe and secure way. " It also falls to us to help the public and policymakers understand the importance of technology in achieving these goals and the role future generations of scientists and engineers will play in creating the innovations that will build a brighter future," he explained During the 7th IPTC, representatives from all around the world including governments and industry will meet to discuss and share their views, expertise and best practices. In addition, senior management from Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and the industry will deliver keynote remarks and participate in key panel sessions. As main host and co-host, QP and ExxonMobil will also lead the IPTC exhibition in which they will showcase their respective capabilities in the vital areas of operational excellence, innovative technologies, social responsibility, national content and energy efficiency.
