Thai Cabinet to consider artificial reef barriers project

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - The Thai Cabinet held a new mobile meeting in the eastern resort Chonburi province Tuesday, with a new artificial reef barriers project in adjacent Rayong province included in the agenda. Public Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri visited Rayong on Monday to inspect the readiness of a site where artificial barriers will be dumped into the sea for reef habitats. The minister’s visit was also aimed at estimating a state budget needed for sponsoring the project and proposing it before the Cabinet's for further consideration and approval. The new artificial reef barriers project is under the supervision of the Marine and Coastal Resources Department, Rayong office, as part of integrated efforts and participation of relevant parties, including local people, in supporting sustainable ecological rehabilitation and conservation for further developing the local socio-economy.
