ASEAN, Japan develop common framework for information security

BRUNEI, June 15 (TNA) - Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experts from Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Thailand is a key member country, have participated in a workshop in Brunei, from June 14-15, aimed to develop a common framework for information security and the sharing of best practices on the protection of data and information infrastructure across ASEAN. The 4th ASEAN-Japan Government Network Security Workshop was presided over by Brunei’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Communications, Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Dato Haji Mohd Yusof. The ICT Industry in ASEAN now employs more than 11.7 million people and contributes more than 32 billion US dollars or more than 3 per cent to ASEAN's gross domestic product (GDP). Through the close collaboration with Japan, one of major players in the global ICT industry, ASEAN and Japan can drive the region further ahead towards mutual progress and development.(TNA)
