SOMALIAN MAN FEARED DROWNED AFTER FALLING IN FAST FLOWING MONSOON DRAIN
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- A Somalian man is feared drowned after
falling into a fast-flowing monsoon drain in Jalan Persiaran, Taman Melati here
during a heavy downpour Monday.
Wangsa Maju fire station officer-in-charge Azman Hassan said in the 7pm
incident, Muhamed Hassan Abukar, 20, together with four friends were trying to
cross the swollen drain via a makeshift plank bridge when he slipped and fell
into it and was dragged away by the current.
Muhamed Abdirahman, 20, who was among the four friends also fell into the
drain but managed to extricate himself by dragging himself to the side of the
drain, he told reporters at the scene.
Hassan AbuBakar is believed to be a student of Kolej Prima here.
As of midnight, a rescue team had yet to locate Hassan.
