House submerged, roads blocked after flash floods hit Thai South
THAILAND, June 5 (TNA) - Heavy downpours fell across the southern Ranong province Tuesday, causing flash floods in Kra Buri district that submerged several houses and left Phet Kasem road linking Ranong and Chumphon provinces impassable for small vehicles.
Almost the entire district was hit by flash floods early Tuesday morning following days of heavy rains. In some areas, houses were almost completely submerged by the floodwaters.
Local authorities have been sent on flat-bottom-boats to evacuate stranded people to safe places but many are still waiting for assistance.
Small vehicles cannot now pass the Phet Kasem road as many sections have been blocked by mud from landslides, also triggered by the heavy rainfalls. (TNA)
