Frawley to run AFL coaches association

Former Richmond coach Danny Frawley will take over from Neale Daniher as the AFL
Coaches Association (AFLCA) chief executive.
The association also announced that Richmond football manager Paul Armstrong, who
will leave the Tigers at the end of the month, will become the AFLCA's coaching
development manager.
Daniher, the former Melbourne head coach, is leaving the post to become an assistant
at West Coast.
Association president Kevin Sheedy has confirmed he will stay in the role next year.
"Replacing Neale has been a real challenge for us," Sheedy said.
"What he has achieved in the past 12 months has been enormous.
"We believe though that in Danny Frawley we have got the best possible person to
ensure our ambitious expansion programs continue.
"And we know Danny is really keen to do this job because he has chosen us over some
other pretty good job offers."
Frawley will take up the post in November.
Also on Monday, Carlton announced they would not offer assistant coach Gavin
Crosisca a new contract.
Crosisca was Carlton's defensive coach for the last two seasons.
Former Blues player Matthew Lappin, who was their development coach this year, will
now become an assistant under Brett Ratten.
Crosisca has joined six Carlton players who will leave the team.
Former Sydney defender Jason Saddington has retired, while the Blues delisted Irish
import Aisake O'hAilpin, Cain Ackland, Clinton Benjamin, Luke Blackwell and Ryan
Jackson.
O'hAilpin's brother Setanta remains a Carlton player.
Meanwhile, Channel Seven have reported Sydney stars Adam Goodes and Craig Bolton
went to Germany last month for groin surgery.
It is understood the procedure they had will dramatically cut the recovery time for
the surgery.
