FIFTEEN COUNTRIES TO TAKE PART IN IMSO IN MATARAM
Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, Oct 13 (ANTARA) - A total of 15 Asia-Pacific and European countries are expected to take part in an elementary school International Mathematics and Science Oympiad (IMSO) to be held in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Province on November 10-11, 2008.
"Mataram has the honor and is trusted to host the international event that will be held on November 10-11, 2008 where about 150 participants from 15 countries are expected to take part," Mataram Deputy Mayor H Ahyar Abduh said here on Monday.
Abduh who is also organizing committee chairman said that Mataram would capitalize on the trust it was receiving to host the event and was determined to become a good host.
Mataram has been trusted to host the event for its success in hosting various other international events without major problems.
For that purpose, Abduh called on all parties, including security personnel, to keep on maintaining security in order to support the organization of IMSO in the provincial capital of West Nusa Tenggara.
He said that the opening the IMSO contest would be held in the General Square of Mataram, while the contests and exhibitions would be held at the Senggigi international tourist resort beach in West Lombok.
"The opening will be highlighted by various attractions and arts events, including traditional arts performance such as gandrung, rudat and gendang beleq," he added.
