400 police provide security at WEF in Bangkok
BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - Deputy metropolitan police chief Police Major General Anan Srihiran has announced that some 400 Thai police have been on duty to provide security during the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2012, hosted by Thailand from May 30- June 1.
The 21st WEF on East Asia is being held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, with its inaugural ceremony set at 3:30pm Thursday.
According to the senior police, about 200 officers from the Royal Thai Police’s Special Branch Division have been tasked with security enforcements in the hotel compound; while the other half, comprising metropolitan and traffic police, have been deployed in areas surrounding the hotel.
With the strict security arrangements, the deputy metropolitan police chief, said that he believes the ongoing WEF on East Asia will carry on and end smoothly. (TNA)
