Foreign ministers of S. Korea, Nepal discuss ways to enhance cooperation
SEOUL, Oct. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korean and Nepalese foreign ministers met in Seoul Monday to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties, including personal exchanges and economic and political cooperation, South Korean foreign ministry officials said.
Yu Myung-hwan congratulated his Nepalese counterpart Upendra Yadav on the recent
launch of the Democratic Nepal Republic and hoped for its political stability and
economic development in the future, the officials said.
In response, Yadav said the new Nepalese government is placing policy priority on
the economy and hoped for aggressive support from South Korea for infrastructure
development and expansion of civilian investment in Nepal, according to the
officials.
Yu vowed to help Nepal develop in a stable manner and suggested strengthening
cooperation in the tourism sector as an increasing number of South Koreans have
visited Nepal in recent years.
The two ministers also agreed to continue to work closely on the international
stage, including at the United Nations, officials said.
