FM: Resolution on Azerbaijan adopted by European Parliament is thoughtless decision

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 25 / Trend S. Agayeva / The resolution on the human rights in Azerbaijan adopted by the European Parliament is a thoughtless, wrong and unjust decision, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev said at a press briefing today. "Such a document adopted by a small number of members of the European Parliament (MEPs) during the Eurovision song contest in the country without a thorough examination of the situation in Azerbaijan is a blow to the image and the neutrality of this institution," Abdullayev said. "All accusations against Azerbaijan stressed in the resolution are absurd, biased and unacceptable," he said. This is part of a campaign against Azerbaijan. By adopting this document, the European Parliament calls its transparency and objectivity in question, he added. "Why do MEPs keep silent about anti-Semitism and xenophobia in European countries?" Abdullayev said. He added that all the right conditions have been created in Azerbaijan for the opposition to act free. The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the human rights in Azerbaijan on May 24. The resolution also condemns radical Islamists' threats against participants and spectators of Eurovision 2012 song contest. Do you have any feedback?
