S KOREAN MINISTER VISITS INDONESIA WORKERS TC

Depok, Indonesia, Oct 13 (ANTARA) - South Korean Manpower Minister Lee Young Hee visited the Graha Insan Cita, an education and training center for Indonesian prospective workers (TKIs) for employment in South Korea, in Cimganggis, Depok, West Java, on Monday.

Lee said that the quality of Indonesian workers in South Korea was rated in the first rank if compared with those of workers coming from 15 other countries.

The South Korean minister said he was happy for he was able to see directly Indonesian would-be workers who were to be sent for employment in South Korea.

"You are very energetic and have high working spirit. I am convinced that you would work well and better than your colleagues who were sent to South Korea previously," Lee said to the applause of the audience.

Lee said that the number of TKSs in South Korea reached 17 thousand people, occupying the fourth rank in the number of expatriates from other nations in that country.

The number of TKIs dispatched to South Korea up to September in 2008 reached 8,000 workers and it was expected to reach 10,000 at the end of the year.

In the meantime, Head of the National Manpower Recruitment Overseas, Moh Jumhur Hidayat expressed hope that the current financial crisis would not disturb the placement of Indonesian workers in South Korea and in other countries.
