Six-way nuclear talks to reconvene soon: S. Korean envoy
SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korea expects six-way talks on North Korea's
nuclear program to be reconvened at an early date following a deal on
verification of Pyongyang's nuclear claims, Seoul's chief nuclear negotiator said
Sunday.
The outlook came after the U.S. removed the North from its terrorism list in
return for the agreement on the verification issue.
"The agreement is expected to put the six-way talks back on a normal track and
serve as a steppingstone for North Korea to ultimately abandon its nuclear
program," Kim Sook told a press briefing.
The related nations will soon gather in Beijing to discuss details, he added,
without providing a specific date for the resumption of the six-way talks last
held in July. China, Russia, and Japan are also involved in the talks.
