Security thwart attempted diesel smuggle, seize 14 hand- grenades at scrap store

HAJJAH, Oct 11 (Saba) - The security forces in Hajjah province have seized a car
carrying 37 diesel barrels planned for smuggle.

They confiscated diesel and launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier, the province security forces seized a water truck inside which diesel
quantities were found, not water. The truck driver, is said to have bought diesel
from several fuel stations in Haradh city to smuggle them.

On the other hand, the security forces have launched an investigation into the
possession of 14 hand grenades that were found at a scrap metal store in Taiz.

11 British-made and 3-China-made hand-grenades have been seized at scrap shop in
Taiz province with the shop owner, 35, but reasons behind their availability there
are still unclear.

Recently Yemen has suffered from diesel shortages that forced the closure of many
fuel stations and operational facilities.

The government worked hard to supply diesel quantities to satisfy local demand
through importing appropriate quantities from abroad.

The security forces have lately blocked several attempts to smuggle large amounts
of diesel and confiscated them.
