AZERBAIJAN TO CREATE MUD VOLCANO RESEARCH CENTER
Baku, 11 0ctober, (AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s scientists have revealed plans to create a
mud volcano research center. It will conduct various scientific researches on
magmatic processes and volcano dynamics in order to improve prediction of volcanic
eruptions. The center will contain a volcano museum.
Azerbaijan is home to almost half of the world`s mud volcanoes. Eight of the Baku
archipelago’s islands are of mud volcanic origin.
The Caspian Sea is home to nearly 140 mud volcanoes.
