National electricity generation capacity to reach
Hanoi (VNA) " Vietnam has to raise its total electricity
generation capacity to 18,000 MW in 2009 to meet fast growing
demands, said Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang.
To reach this goal, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) needs to speed
up the construction of power plants, Hoang said at a working session
with the group on September 10.
The sector must meet essential needs of production and living as well
as ensure the electricity quality and safety, he said, adding that
the EVN should work out a suitable maintenance schedule for power
plants to avoid the suspension of many major plants at the same time.
Northern Vietnam is forecast to lack some 200 million kWh of
electricity during the dry season of 2009.-Enditem
