CEC REGISTERED 1,153 INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS
Baku, 11 0ctober, (AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s Central Election Commission has registered
1,153 international observers to monitor the forthcoming presidential election,
according to the Independent Press Center.
They represent various countries and international organizations, including the
OSCE, Council of Europe and the Organization`s Parliamentary Assembly, European
Union, European Parliament, Parliament Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS), GUAM, and OSCE/ODIHR.
Almost one third of the total number of observers – 420 people - is from the OSCE
Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The OSCE/ODIHR has already deployed long-term observation mission to Azerbaijan
which studies the state of election preparations in the country`s various regions.
The Organization`s short-term mission will arrive in Baku several days prior to the
voting day.
The number of observers from the European Parliament is thirteen.
