King Abdullah Education project enhances progress

Riyadh, Oct 11, SPA -- The Project of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for
the development of general education is one of the most important
developmental schemes.

Dr Naif Al-Roomi, the director general of the project, said the
general policy for the implementation of the project depends on three
strategies: short, medium and long terms.

He noted that the short plan includes development of 50 secondary
schools in a number of cities and governorates in the Kingdom.

Al-Roomi pointed out that the idea of development schools depends on
finding an environment that depends on education using modern
technology.

He noted that a meeting was held during the vacation of 1429 AH with
a number of male and female teachers to clarify their role in the
process of education inside the school. These teachers will be
trained for rehabilitation.

Al-Roomi said the purpose after the evaluation of the schools system
depends on following up the performance of this system in the light
of the goals and priorities written in the project plan as well as on
setting up strategies for the evaluation of schools' activities and
preparation of the schools for foreign evaluation.

He noted that arrangements are underway to turn the schools from
their traditional educational environment into schools of
technological educational environment.

These schools will be linked with each other and with a specified
development project.

Al-Roomi said the current stage is the phase of the short term which
will be concerned with the development of the current school
syllabuses taking into account the importance of improving its
effectiveness.

Al-Roomi said the general feature of the new educational policy is
concerned with confining concepts, skills, trends, and values in the
schools' syllabuses.

He pointed out that the concerned officials have worked for the
training of the male and female teachers in various domains including
the merger of skills in terms of thinking and teaching.

He added that there are other programs for training the students on
the required skills for the usage of technology in the educational
field.
