Turkmen oil and gas industry minister reprimanded

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, May 11 / Trend, H. Hasanov / Minister of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan Bayramgeldi Nedirov was severely reprimanded, the Turkmen government said on Friday. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's order notes "improper fulfillment of duties, untimely execution of the instructions". This ministry is engaged in centralized management of field development and rational use of mineral resources, and ensures realization of a unified state policy in this sphere. The ministry's duties include conducting analytical work and preparation of perspective plans and long-term oil and gas sector development programs. The ministry coordinates the activities and determines the development strategy of oil and gas complex. According to a British Petroleum (BP) report, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world after Russia, Iran and Qatar for its natural gas reserves. At present, the country exports natural gas to China, Iran and Russia. It is planned to increase annual natural gas production up to 230 billion cubic meters, mainly for export in accordance with the Turkmen Oil and Gas Industry Development Programme in 2030.
