Shipyard to be built in Turkmenbashi

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, May 7 / Trend H. Hasanov / The Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transport will fund a contract with Inros Lackner AG to render technical consultative services for a shipyard's construction, an official Turkmen source said today. The corresponding decree was signed by President Berdimuhamedov. The document was signed to develop the transport industry, to implement the general development plan of the Turkmenbashi international seaport and the national merchant marine fleet until 2020 and to further strengthen the technical base of maritime transport. The company is expected to repair different vessels. This need is associated with increased cargo transportation by sea and the fact that the Turkmenbashi port is becoming a major transit point.
