FINANCE MINISTER'S MOTHER PASSES AWAY
Semarang, Central Java, Oct. 11 (ANTARA)- Prof Dr Retno Sriningsih Satmoko (87), the mother of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, passed away at Dr Kariadi General Hospital here on Friday evening.
She was a lecturer at Semarang State University.
Her second daughter, Asri Purwanti, said her mother had complained about stomach ache and was therefore rushed to the hospital. She had once undergone surgery for a tumor.
Born on March 11, 1921, Prof Satmoko is survived by 10 children.
Semarang State University Rector Prof Dr Sudijono Sastroatmodjo said Prof Retno Sriningsih Satmoko had been teaching pedagogy.
"She was active as a lecturer in the post-graduate program of Semarang State University," he said.
Prof Satmoko's remains would be buried at Bergota Public Cemetery on Saturday, after being laid in state at the university's auditorium.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in Semarang on Saturday her mother was an extraordinary and exemplary figure.
"Mother did not only teach students in her classes but also her children at home," she said.
"Mother was a complete human being and the most beautiful gift from God," she said.
