PRESIDENT TO RELEASE ASIAN BEACH GAMES TORCH CARNIVAL
Jakarta, Oct 10 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to release 2008 Asian Beach Games torch carnival at around 3.30pm at the Presidential Palace as officially informed by the pers and media biro here Friday.
The torch is planned earlier to pass across main streets in Jakarta's protocol areas started from Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry at Gerbang Pemuda street to Jenderal Sudirman street.
Then, the torch will be carried along MH Thamrin street towards Presidential palace to arrive at state owned gas company Pertamina head office.
According to Traffic Management Center (TMC) Jakarta Special District Police Department the event will start at 1.30pm. Thus, streets users are suggested to take alternative ways to anticipate jammed traffic on the route passed by the torch carnival.
The first Asian Beach Games which to be held in Bali, October 14-26 will be participated in by 45 countries competing 17 sports.
After the torch relay the President is scheduled to welcome cast and supporters of Laskar Pelangi movie at State House.
President and first lady Ani Yudhoyono with their son Edhie Baskoro, several ministers, the movie's cast and production team together with some street children watched the movie on Wednesday evening (October 8)at Auditorium I Blitz Megaplex.
