GOVERNMENT IS STILL EVALUATING STOCK EXCHANGE SITUATION : MINISTER
Jakarta, Oct 10 (ANTARA) - The government is still evaluating the situation in regional and international stock market before deciding to re-open the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI).
"We hope the trust is still with us. We will keep monitoring the on-going situation," minister of finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, said here Friday after a meeting with the chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the house's building.
Furthermore, the minister explained that the decision to close the national stock exchange was due to the influences from regional and international exchange situation.
"We hope the impact to our country can be as minimum as possible," the minister said.
Moreover, Sri Mulyani also expected people to act rationally in receiving informations and the impact of the crisis in Dow Jones and Wall Street stock exchange last Thursday night or the regional one Friday morning.
The minister explained that the government would keep evaluating the latest situation until they decide to re-open the national stock market.
