S. Korea makes last-minute roster change for World Cup qualifier
SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's national football team made a
last-minute replacement in its roster Friday ahead of its World Cup qualifier
against the United Arab Emirates next week, its governing body said.
Kim Chi-gon, 25, will replace Kim Jin-kyu, the 23-year-old defender whose
suffered a minor tear in his right knee, for the Asian qualifier against the UAE
on Wednesday, the Korea Football Association said. Both players are with FC Seoul
of the domestic K-League.
South Korea, who played a one-all draw with North Korea last month in their
opener of the final qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa,
recently announced their preliminary 30-man roster for the Oct. 15 match.
The team, which includes Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung, is scheduled
to face Uzbekistan for a warm-up match on Saturday in Seoul, four days before the
qualifier.
