PM: Japanese know-how, Turkmen resources are mutually complementary

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 24 / Trend, H. Hasanov / Japanese high-tech and Turkmenistan's rich natural resources are mutually complementary, Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda said in his message to the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. "I believe that there are great opportunities to enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in economic sphere," the message says. According to Noda, mutually beneficial relationship has been established between the two countries after Turkmenistan gained independence. He also stressed active cooperation with Turkmenistan, including within the "Central Asia + Japan" dialogue. Berdimuhammadov's official visit to Japan in 2009 gave an impetus to bilateral relations. During the visit a number of intergovernmental agreements and contracts were signed with Japanese companies. Such companies as Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Sojitz, Itochu Corporation and JGC, Toyota Corporation, Marubeni Corporation and others expressed interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan. Japanese companies are already represented in the country in such sectors as oil and gas sector, transport and communications, construction, healthcare, as well as water industry. Participation in projects on upgrading fuel and energy complex, as well as supply of up-to-date road construction and earth-moving equipment is especially obvious.
