ELECTION 2008 NGO COALITION HOLDS CONFERENCE “FREE ELECTIONS IN SOCIETIES IN TRANSITION: CAPABILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES”
Baku, 09 0ctober ,(AzerTAj) - Election 2008 NGO Coalition held Wednesday a conference on “free elections in societies in transition: capabilities and opportunities” at Hyatt Regensy–Nackchivan hotel in Baku.
Representatives of various international organizations, NGOs and Central Election
Commission (CEC) attended the event.
Senior official of OSCE Baku office, who spoke about role of international
organizations in elections, said presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be focus
of international attention.
The country coordinator of International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES)
Daniel Blessington said election legislation in the country has been improved in
recent years.
CEC Secretary Rovshan Ismayilov noted his organization attaches great importance to
holding forthcoming elections free and fair.
