Democratic school to launch future leaders, women parliament project
SANA'A, Oct 09 (Saba) - The Democratic School in collaboration with
the US Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative
(MEPI) is preparing to launch the project of future leaders and
women parliament over the next days.
The weekly September 26 quoted head of the school Jamal al-Shami as
saying the project would include two programs, the first would be
dedicated to training 70 child parliamentarians elected in 2004 and
2006 election rounds and 20 child rights volunteer activists on
leadership and making decisions.
The second program is designed for building up the capabilities of
162 women who stood in last provincial elections but didn't win and
encouraging them to meet their goals in the future, al-Shami said.
He added the two programs would be implemented up to the end of the
current month and within the school programs and plans aimed at
raising the leadership awareness among people.
