Appellate process on terror acts in Georgia scheduled for April 20

Georgia, Tbilisi, April 20 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia / The appeal trial of those convicted of organising terror acts in Georgia will be held on April 20. The process scheduled for April 18 did not take place because of confusion with the arrival of the defendants to the Tbilisi City Court, where the process will take place due to the large number of detainees. The defendants' lawyers have already stated that their clients were not brought to the trial specifically to not allow them the opportunity to make statements. In particular, Merab Kolbaya, known by the nickname of Kochoya, was supposed to announce he was starting a hunger strike on account of demanding a fair investigation. He also wanted to require a re-trial in court. Only Kolbaya and Gogita Arkania among all detainees confessed to being guilty. Others did not plead guilty, but all were sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison. Georgian Interior Ministry detained seven members for the organising, committing and assisting in committing bombings in Georgia in September-November 2010. Do you have any feedback?
