L.T.T.E. expresses gratitude over support by TN parties

Colombo, Oct 9 (PTI) - Buoyed by the expression of concern
over the plight of Tamils in Northern Sri Lanka by political
parties in Tamil Nadu, a beleagured Liberation Tigers of Tamil
Eelam (L.T.T.E.) has interpreted the message as a
significant" sign of solidarity.

Pointing out that "indiscriminate shelling and
bombardment had uprooted thousands of Tamils from their homes
and villages," the political head of the Tigers B. Nadesan has
said the voice from Tamil Nadu has come at a time when the
Rajapaksa regime is "conceited in its military aggression".

Apparently responding to concerns voiced by Tamil Nadu
politicians and New Delhi, Nadesan posted a statement on the
Pro-tiger website Tamilnet hoping that "the solidarity
extended by all the leaders of Tamil Nadu would transcend into
a practically sound political support".

The staement said all the Sinhala forces and parties were
lending support to the war being waged by the Rajapaksa
government with a wrong assumption that even Tamil Nadu would
not come forward to voice for Eezham Tamils, who were the
target of a "genocidal war".

The L.T.T.E. statement claimed that countries opposed to
India were militarily assisting the "Sinhala" state and some
nations were even providing financial support.

The website also said that the L.T.T.E. expressed its
gratitude on behalf of the "Eelam Tamils for the solidarity
shown by the leaders and the masses of Tamil Nadu".

"Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi (Tamil Nadu Chief Minister) on
Monday indirectly declared that his government would no longer
tolerate Indian Central government aiding the Sri Lankan
government against the Eezham Tamils, even if it aided Colombo
unwittingly," the Tamilnet website said.

National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan had earlier this
week summoned Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner G.G.A.D.
Palithaganegoda to convey India's concerns to him. PTI TVS
