S. Korea edges out China in U-19 Asian competition
SEOUL, Oct. 9 (Yonhap) -- Park Jong-woo netted a header early in the second half to propel South Korea 1-0 past China Thursday in the under-19 Asian football competition in Thailand, the sport's governing body in Seoul said.
Park, 19, took a cross from fellow midfielder Ahn Jong-hoon and headed it into
the net in the 53rd minute, giving his team its second win of the four-nation
round-robin tournament that began on Sunday, the Korea Football Association said
South Korea, who have also tied once in the tournament, will now face either
Australia or Thailand on Saturday in a bid to secure the final top spot in the
table. The competition has been organized by the Asean Football Federation, which
promotes the sport in Southeast Asia.
