UNIDO is ready to assist Azerbaijan in securing redevelopment stability

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 17 /Trend A.Hasanov/ The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is ready to assist Azerbaijan in ensuring environmental sustainability, regional head of UNIDO in Europe and the CIS Olga Mimidovich said at a regional conference on industrial parks, held in Baku on Tuesday. Mimidovich noted that the establishment of industrial towns will inevitably impact on the environment and UNIDO is ready to render all possible assistance in improving the situation in this area. Sumgait Technology Park (STP) and Balakhan industrial park have already been created in order to increase employment and development in the non-oil sector. Deputy Economic Development Minister Niyazi Safarov noted that currently there are 17 plants including enterprises for the production of plastic pipes, high voltage equipment, cable plant, hot dip galvanising plants and heavy machinery are operating in STP. A plant for incineration of municipal solid waste is constructed on the territory of Balakhani industrial parkю "We are interested in studying foreign experience to organize the efficient operation of industrial parks," the deputy minister said.
