RI, HUNGARY EXPLORING POSSIBILITY OF COOPERATING IN MANPOWER SECTOR

Jakarta, Oct 10 (ANTARA) - The possibility of Indonesia-Hungary cooperation in the manpower sector was the main topic of a meeting between Hungarian Social and Manpower Minister Erika Szucs and Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary Sihombing in Budapest earlier this week.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a press statement here Friday that as an advanced country which had become a member of the European Union, Hungary had a need for skilled workers which it could not meet fully with its own human resources.

It was in that connection that the Indonesian ambassador considered the need for Indonesia to take the opportunity to send Indonesia workers, particularly nurses, to that country.

The ambassador referred to the entry into the West European countries of Indonesian nurses in the last ten years.

In the meantime, Szucs hailed the offer of the Indonesian ambassador.

The minister also said that in implementing cooperation both sides needed to pay attention to regulations in force in the European Union.

The Hungarian side would discuss the matter further with the relevant parties in Indonesia on the sidelines of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Bali on October 13-15, 2009.
