Courts do not have time to consider claims of SOCAR on illegal buildings on oil fields

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 11 /Trend A.Akhundov/
Azerbaijani courts consider 15.000 lawsuits against individuals who have illegal structures on SOCAR land that could be exploited for oil and gas projects, SOCAR official Eldar Orujov told reporters on Wednesday.
Orujov noted that SOCAR is now preparing a seven thousand claims to direct them to the judicial authorities.
"We have reduced the rate of claims in the courts because they do not have time to consider them" Orujov said.
"The company is taking the appropriate measures against those who carried out construction work in areas designed for industrial use and for the oil and gas operations," Orujov said.
According to him, these measures are aimed only at preventing the emergence of new structures. SOCAR doesn't have intention to demolish existing inhabited buildings.
"However, the current conditions limit the possibility of holding a full-fledged oil and gas operations by 70 percent," Orujov said.
Orujov noted that 1520 such buildings were built last year.
An inspection of buildings in Sulutepe was held on Wednesday with SOCAR and the media.
