Azerbaijani opposition holds rally in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 8 /Trend E.Mekhtiyev/ An authorized rally of the Azerbaijani opposition was held Sunday in Baku's Bibiheybat neighbourhood. Totally slightly more than 1000 people participated in the rally. About 300 of them were the representatives of media, functionaries of opposition parties and their relatives. Action was started with sounding the national anthem. Member of the coordination council of the Public Chamber Ibrahim Ibrahimli called the rally participants to be active and emotional. Chairman of the APFP Ali Karimli, deputy chairman of the APFP Gozel Bayramli, chairman of the Musavat party Isa Gambar, and also member of the Public Chamber Panah Huseyn attended the rally. Many slogans and banners, which chanted in the rally, were in foreign languages. According to a Trend reporter, who was at the scene, the rally took place without incident. By the rally's end, a resolution was adopted. The anthem of Azerbaijan was accompanied by whistles. The police took measures for the prevention of unpleasant incident and provocation. So-called Public Chamber of the Azerbaijani opposition earlier agreed to hold a rally at the venue proposed by the Baku executive power - at a driving school's yard in 20th district, Bibiheybat settlement.
