HCM City host German feast

HCM City (VNA) - Oktoberfest, the biggest annual German food and
beer festival of the year, is expected to kick off in HCM City on October 8.

The five-day cultural and food event, organised by the Germany Business
Association (GBA) and the Windsor Plaza Hotel, will also feature culinary
activities and fun folk games.

Oktoberfest will present authentic German food, including sausages,
sauerkraut, pork knuckle, pretzels, potato salad and lots more, as well as
draught Krombacher and bottled Schneider Weisse.

The hotel's Jade Ballroom where Oktoberfest will take place will be
decorated and set up in style befitting the region of Bavaria , where
Oktoberfest is held every year, according to organisers.

Trenkwalder, a four-member group from Germany , will give a folk music
and dance performance at the event. The young, dynamic music group includes
Hubert Trenkwaldeer, "Demibata" Hans Peter Wille, Philipp Haniger and
Christian Bernert.


German Ambassador Rolf Schulze will perform the O'zapftis, a traditional
tapping of the first beer barrel, signalling the opening of the festivity.
To spice up this year's programme, there will be a special car parade by the
GBA's business members.

Traditional German games, Bavarian Log Buster, Draw Well and Stone
Labyrinth ( a game of couples), will be challenging, fun and exciting for
both adults and children.

The German food and beer event will take place from 6:30pm until late
daily on October 8 to 18 and from 10am to 4pm on October 19.-Enditem
