S. Korea, Japan agree to work closely on N. Korea nuke

SEOUL, Oct. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Japan's foreign minister agreed in a telephone conversation Thursday to seek closer cooperation in resolving the North Korean nuclear issue and promoting bilateral ties, officials in Seoul said.
New Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone made an introductory phone call
to his counterpart Yu Myung-hwan, according to the South Korean Foreign Ministry
spokesman Moon Tae-young. Moon did not provide details.
The ministers are expected to meet during the Asia Cooperation Dialogue to be
held in Kazakhstan next week.
The annual conference, set to open next Thursday, will bring together top
diplomats from 30 Asian and Middle Eastern nations with the purpose of promoting
economic cooperation in the regions.
"Minister Yu plans to hold one-on-one foreign ministerial talks with other member
states on the sidelines of the meeting," Moon said.
