Yemen-Malaysia discuss local governance cooperation
SANA'A, Oct. 08 (Saba)- Minister of Local Administration Abdul-Qader
Hilal got on Wednesday an invitation from Malaysian Minister of
Housing and Local Government Ong Kating for acquainting him with
Malaysian expertise in local government.
Hilal discussed with Malaysian ambassador to Yemen Abdul-Samad
Othman, who handed him the invitation visit to Malaysia, cooperation
between the two countries in field of administration and local
governance as well as making use of Malaysian improvement in this
field.
The minister highlighted the Yemeni-Malaysian unique relations
started during early ages of Islam and praised the ambassador's
efforts for developing relations between the two countries,
indicating president Saleh's call to Malaysian investors to invest
in Yemen.
He indicated Yemen's heeding for transformation into wider-
authorized local governance, noting that his ministry will soon
issue the national strategy for local governance.
For his part, the ambassador asserted his country's support to
Yemen's intentions for boosting decentralization, noting that there
is great cognation of local authority systems in the two countries.
