Ambassador: Iraq hopes for early opening of Embassy of Kazakhstan in Baghdad

Kazakhstan, Astana, March 23 /Trend D.Mukhtarov/ Iraq hopes for an early opening of Kazakhstan's Embassy in Baghdad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iraq in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Sabir Raja Abboud al-Moussaoui said in an interview with Trend. The Iraqi government opened its diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan four years ago and expect Kazakhstan to open its Embassy in Baghdad, an Iraqi diplomat said. Sabir Raja Abboud al-Moussaoui said Kazakhstan has an embassy in neighboring Jordan, and Kazakhstan's ambassador, who works there, combines his duties on Iraq, but it is not enough. "The Foreign Minister of Iraq will visit Astana this year, and the opening of the Kazakh Embassy in Baghdad will be discussed during the visit," the diplomat said. Sabir Raja Abboud al-Moussaoui noted that there are many aspects for the development of cooperation between the two countries. One of them is oil and gas sector. "Iraq constantly provides information on tenders for the development of new gas and oil fields," the diplomat said. Earlier, the subsidiary of the National Company KazMunaiGas took part in the tender, in partnership with Korean company for the right to develop Akkaz gas field in Iraq, but lost the tender in the final round.
