Kahramaa to Increase Water Production Capacity
Doha, March 19 (QNA) - The Chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Eng Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said that the company plans to sign contracts with companies in the water sector during the next few months to increase water production capacity by about 70 billion gallons by 2014.
Engineer Al Kuwari told Qatar News Agency (QNA) while attending a press conference held to announce the Tenth Gulf Conference on Water that negotiating are underway with various companies in order to develop and increase water production to meet the growing demand on water resources in Qatar.
He expressed Kahramaa's commitment to satisfy the increased demand on water resources since it is the body responsible for the management of drinking water, adding that there is no difficulty in securing those resources.
In a related context, Eng Al Kuwari said that the company will soon launch a national campaign with aim to rationalize water and electricity consumption.
He explained that the national campaign will be referred by Kahramaa to the top level authorities in order to be approved. (QNA)
